If you live near Greenville, SC and are looking for something different (yet meaningful) to do this weekend, why not come to the “All For Ruby” silent auction and concert being held at my church this Saturday night? There you’ll be able to listen to some great live music, and also bid on two of my framed prints, shore path and wild flowers. (ALL PROCEEDS will go to help pay for baby Ruby’s medical expenses, so your “night out” will be benefitting a worthy cause. Here’s the details…)

Fundraising Silent Auction and Concert for RUBY GROOVER
Music provided by the critically acclaimed singer/songwriter WILLIAM F. GIBBS

Saturday, March 13th, 2010 • 7-9pm
Downtown Presbyterian Church
435 W. Washington Street, Greenville SC

Tickets: $5 adults (under 18 free)
This fundraising concert/silent auction is to raise money to pay for Ruby’s on-going medical bills.

Baby Ruby was diagnosed in January with a rare heart defect called Truncus Arteriosus. The two large tubes (the pulmonary artery and the aorta) that go into the heart begin in utero as one larger tube and then later split, but with Ruby they stayed together. As a result, her oxygenated and un-oxygenated blood was getting mixed up, which means her body wasn’t running as efficiently as it should. Also, as a side effect, since those two tubes are supposed to go into different chambers in her heart, the one large tube prevented the inside wall of the heart from completely forming. Her surgery repaired that hole, moved the large tube to one side, and put in an artificial tube to go to the other side. She has now had her surgery and is happily at home with her parents and three sisters. Baby Ruby will require another surgery on her heart in the future, but for now she is doing quite well!
