Bluffton Arts and Seafood Festival

Here's a photo of my tent at the Bluffton Arts & Seafood Festival located near Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Tim and I love doing outdoor shows, but this one was definitely the highlight of 2009. It was our first time doing a show on Southern coast of SC, and since we love traveling to new places it was a great experience.

We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful weekend--warm days (without rain) is perfect art show weather.

This was a great show. Tons of talented artists, more seafood than you could eat, and cool t-shirts!

The best thing about the show was that I left with two less paintings than I came with. "Shore path" and "travelers rest" both sold on Sunday morning.

We feasted on seafood all weekend long, but my favorite was the Shrimp Gumbo. It inspired me to search for a Gumbo recipe… this one I found looks pretty close to the delicious version I enjoyed at the show.

Even though Bluffton, SC was only about four hours south, it felt like we had traveled much farther than just the bottom of the state. The weather was in the 80s/70s all weekend, and the vegetation was very different from here in the SC Upcounty where the cooler weather has caused the leaves to start changing. There was Spanish Moss everywhere and beautiful marsh lands — which I know will inspire a few new pieces later this year. I even said goodbye to two of my recent large paintings, which is always a bittersweet moment!

We will definitely be back next year to enjoy more Seafood and Southern Hospitality.
