Merry Christmas, Happy Anniversary, and Happy Birthday!
As of today, my parents have been married for about 41.75 years. In the spring of 2010 they took a Mediterranean cruise to celebrate both their 40th Anniversary and 60th Birthdays.
This painting is a Christmas gift for my dad. I painted it from one of the many beautiful photos he took while on their “trip of a lifetime.” The scene is from an afternoon they spent together exploring Santorini, Greece.
I am so lucky to have parents who still love each other after so many years. I hope this painting will always remind them of both the wonderful they had together, along with the reason they celebrated — the huge accomplishment of spending a committed lifetime together.
Thanks for setting such a great example of what TRUE LOVE is Dad and Mom!
Above is a short video showing the painting in progress from start to finish, including my snack of Greek Yogurt. The music is fitting to the marriage, not the country of Greece. 🙂 (“Look At Us” by Vince Gill)
you captured it beautifully! we went there on our honeymoon…it is a trip of a lifetime. such an amazing destination that is bringing back great memories–thanks!
I had forgotten that! I would love to go there myself someday. (with Tim actually–not myself.) I can’t wait to see you at Christmas. 🙂
Looks great! Thanks for my Christmas, birthday, and anniversary present. I love it! Can’t wait to hang it up in our house. We may put on an art gallery addition. This painting and all the others deserve it (well, maybe not the tempera paint abstract piece you did in kindergarten) We’d have to hire a guard. Get a few docents. There’s enough parking up and down the street for all the buses from school field trips. Mom could open a small gift shop….
Love,
Dad
I’m glad you like it! I’ll bring it to Thanksgiving. xoxox
What a beautiful gift for a beautiful memory, captured by a thoughtful daughter! Your parents did a great job–look at the beauty you bring to others by using your God-given gifts.
Dear Carol the Bridesmaid (LOL!) 🙂 How neat that my mom is still in touch with her maid of honor after all these years. That too is a wonderful example to me of making good friendships a lifetime priority! 🙂
