I hope it tastes as good as it looks!

I thought this photo looked beautiful AND delicious, so I decided to try to make it myself.

I think it looks ALMOST as good as the photo. (Mine isn't quite the rich brown color as in the professional version, but I didn't want to burn mine.)

When I lifted the cover, my mouth started to water. It smells so sweet and buttery. Did I mention we are serving this with homemade vanilla ice cream? That part of the dessert was Tim's project, using the ice cream maker he got for Father's Day. Once you start making your own ice cream, you can never go back to the store-bought kind. I think Tim makes about two batches of ice cream a month. We could eat it every day, it is so delicious -- you can't really go wrong with heavy whipping cream, sugar, and whole milk.

I also thought it would be fun to have a little cheese platter. I rummaged through my cupboard this morning and found some cute plates to serve it on. All I have left to do is slice the cheese.

We’re having some friends over for dessert tonight.

I hadn’t really planned on making anything special, but then flipping through the October issue of Real Simple Magazine, I got inspired to push my cooking skills past a boxed brownie mix.

I decided to CREATE something beautiful.

Something that looks and tastes like the season of Thanksgiving.

Here’s what I made.

I haven’t tasted it yet, but it smells amazing.

Mmmmm…I hope it tastes as good as it smells!

Here’s a link to the recipe on the Real Simple  website.

Here’s a link to the ice cream maker… it doesn’t use any rock salt so it’s SO easy! Totally worth the money.
