“Hellebore” is the name of one of my most recent paintings. It was inspired by a photo I took one winter morning at Falls Park in Greenville, SC . This beautiful flower was blooming in the middle of winter, as they do every year.

I was certain there was a “Hellebore” blooming in the yard when we first looked at our “new” house for the first time last January. Unfortunately for me, by the time we moved in last year it was no longer there.

I can’t really blame anyone who would want to take this gorgeous perennial and move it to their new home. There is a very good chance that it had some kind of special memory associated with it.

Now that a year has passed since I first fell in love with the little house that we now call home, it is probably time to add back this evergreen, winter blooming flower into the landscape sometime this coming spring.

But even if I don’t ever get around to planting one, at least I will enjoy the painting named “Hellebore” all year-long.
