Four years ago…
I moved my home painting studio to a space in downtown Greenville, SC.
Looking for affirmation that my work had meaning.
201 Studios was my first outside the home painting venture. I was located right next to The Lazy Goat. Here he is again... my wonderful husband hard at work for me. My own studio within a shared space with 5 other artists. Looking out from my easel. Marie Scott Studios in downtown Greenville, SC. Along the river walk... Such a pretty walk to my studio every morning. This painting was inspired by by the view outside my door. This was one of the signs in our window.
Three years ago…
I moved my painting studio to downtown Travelers Rest, SC and opened up a small gift shop.
Looking for a space to work, and a place to sell my art.
HOME COLOR! 2012-2014 Our ribbon-cutting ceremony for HOME COLOR. We are open! I loved this fireplace that Tim put in. We found it by the street! Looking into our front door. I loved this green room. Pumpkin dish towels with my art! Fall at HOME COLOR. HOME COLOR table runners that we made. Christmas at HOME COLOR. The tree actually had BUGS!!!!! Lucy loved working at HOME COLOR. Valentine's Day at HOME COLOR. Easter at HOME COLOR. My pretty blue door. It is still the same color!
Two years ago… we sold our home and bought one half the size.
Looking for a simpler life (and a yard full of winter-blooming Camellias. )
Our new, little house. This is a Camellia. It looks like a rose but they bloom from November - April depending on the variety. This is my mom. She is admiring one of our new Camellia bushes. If the winter isn't too harsh, we have Camellias in our yard for about 5 months! Can you believe these bloom in March?
One year ago… I moved my small gift shop into a bigger space that was five times the size .
Looking for a way to grow my business and help our little town flourish.
What was I thinking?
It sounded like a good idea at the time. But alas, it was not for me.
May, 2014. My wonderful husband, Tim. Painting the floor green for me. The entire 2800 sf floor. Sunflower last July before we opened. My friend Kyle. Without her help, Sunflower could have never opened, or gotten off the ground, or stayed open last fall. Inside our shop last fall. The Sunflower Shop with my painting "Sunflower Flame" on the side of the building. Sunflower at Christmas Our pretty windows in December. Oh, how this makes me tired to even think of doing it again. Sunflower in January. Sunflower in spring. Stacks of dishtowels. We use these to put fabric prints of my art on the front. Lucy is tired. We are all tired. We are looking forward to our independence.
One month from today…
I will be a FREE woman!
Looking to define myself as who “I am.” Not what “I do.”
FREE to remember what it feels like to not have the weight of the world pressing down upon me.
Free to breathe in , and free to breathe out.
