Thinking about Edisto Island while painting “Water #2″

WATER PAINTING #2 (in progress) • 40" x 30"

Here's my inspiration. I took this photo when we went camping at Edisto Island, SC over Labor Day last September. I was determined that I needed to get down to the South Carolina coast to get some photos, but we didn't really have the money for the trip so we decided to CAMP in our tiny 2-man tent! (That is definitely not something we normally do, but it ended up being a fun weekend. There is a beautiful state park at Edisto that has great bike trails, including several of these board walks that take you can take to ride over the marshes.) It was so serene and relaxing at Edisto, that I would actually consider camping there again.

DAY ONE's progress.

DAY TWO: painting the trees...

painting the trees...

painting the trees...

still painting the trees...

painting the trees...

...done painting the trees! (for now)

Here are the trees from a distance (they look better that way.)

Once I finished the first coat on the trees, I moved onto the marsh grasses in the water. Before I knew it, an entire hour had passed while I painted black lines in the water. 🙂
