Does this new rug match? (please cast your vote)

I found this rug at TJMaxx this week. I think it matches, but wanted to make sure. It's pretty wild, but I think it balances out the busy print on the window treatments. I like that it's not pink--most floral rugs I've seen have lots of pink in them.

I like how the rug has the same color green as my kitchen walls. Does it matter that it doesn't have any orange or red in it though? I like putting orange pillows on my couch in the fall.

I wish these photos were better... the sunlight in the room is casting a lot of shadows that make it hard to see the true colors. (Not that I mind the sun shining!!)

I have been looking for a rug for our family room since the summer of 2008. I HAD found one I liked, but didn’t want to pay more than a couple hundred dollars since that’s realistically all I could afford (the one I liked was $1,200!) So I kept watching the sales at PotteryBarn Teen and PBKids (where I get lots of my decor since their colors are much more fun than regular Pottery Barn.) The cheapest rug they had was about $300, and I never found one that was quite right. They all looked too girly–which is understandable since they were designed for little girls/teen girls bedrooms.

On Monday I went to TJMaxx to look for new fun dishes, but found a rug when I wasn’t even looking. It cost MUCH LESS than I had even wanted to spend, so that was an added bonus. I think it matches, but am not sure… If you have any strong feelings one way or the other I’d love to hear about it.

I’m leaning towards keeping it, as it’s definitely growing on me. Plus, the price is definitely right. I love TJMaxx!

If I keep the rug, the only thing left to “finish off” this room will be to save up for having the paisley recliner recovered. It really does not match, but I just have to live with it the way it is until I sell some more paintings! 🙂
