SUNFLOWER PATH • 30 inches x 40 inches • ©2011 Marie Scott

I finished a big new oil painting yesterday! It’s called “sunflower path” and it’s from some photos I took from a field in Travelers Rest, SC.

To see some of the photos I took of this sea of sunflowers, click here.

Or if you’re really ambitious and want to see the painting in progress, watch the 3 minute video below. (To enlarge the video, click in the lower right hand corner and then also click the HD button in the upper right corner.)

Here’s the lyrics to the song in the video. I thought the words fit perfectly with this landscape that captures  “the sunny side” of life.

“Keep on the Sunny Side”

There’s a dark and a troubled side of life
There’s a bright, there’s a sunny side, too
Tho’ we meet with the darkness and strife
The sunny side we also may view

[chorus:]

Keep on the sunny side, always on the sunny side,
Keep on the sunny side of life
It will help us ev’ry day, it will brighten all the way
If we’ll keep on the sunny side of life

The storm and its fury broke today,
Crushing hopes that we cherish so dear;
Clouds and storms will, in time, pass away
The sun again will shine bright and clear.
Let us greet with the song of hope each day
Tho’ the moment be cloudy or fair
Let us trust in our Saviour away
Who keepeth everyone in His care

  2. I love this picture – I made it my new PC background. Today is one of those cloudy days back here, in Milwaukee. (I’m sure you remember those!) Your picture and the song certainly bring a little sunnyside into the day! Thank you.
