Greenville Drive vs. Greensboro Grasshoppers (This should be a painting!)

Welcome to Fluor Field, home of the Greenville Drive minor league baseball team.

I took about 50 photos of the game in action. My plan is to create a painting that is similar to the composition of this photo -- minus the net in the foreground.

Summer is here, so my painting schedule is a little erratic this time of year, as I’m taking advantage of time spent with family and friends.

For the next couple of months, my posts will probably be more of things I WANT to paint, as opposed to photos of what I’m actually PAINTING.

My brother and his family are visiting us from Milwaukee this week, so last night we all went to see the Greenville Drive play baseball (vs. the Greensboro Grasshoppers) at Fluor field.

I’m not a sports fan, but I’m always up for going to a Greenville Drive game. Not so much for the baseball, but mostly because I find the atmosphere of the stadium to be so visually inspiring! I think it’s the contrast of the lush green grass against the colorful stands full of fans that I find so captivating.

Here’s a few photos I snapped at the stadium last night…

I don't think there's a bad seat in this stadium, but we were actually nice and close to home plate on the 3rd base side, thanks to my dad buying us all tickets (even though HE was stuck back home in WI!) He's a huge baseball fan, so he wanted to live vicariously through us all enjoying a baseball game together... he even listened to the game online last night since he wasn't able to be here in South Carolina with us.

I love the vintage feel of all the signage at the stadium. It's like stepping back into time, only better.

Here's the high-tech scoreboard. How cool is that? (The Drive ended up beating the Grasshoppers 4 - 2!) 🙂

The Womens Restroom has beautiful murals painted on all the walls.

The theme to the paintings is a women's baseball game.

Chick-fil-A is always a hit for a good snack...

Both the Moon and Venus were hanging out over the church steeple as we walked out of the Stadium. A perfect ending, to a perfect warm summer night in downtown Greenville, SC!
